Job Title: Staff Accountant – DGIC

Organization: Delegation of German Industry and Commerce (DGIC)

Location: Based in the Washington, DC metro area

Schedule: Part-Time (2.5 Days / 20 Hours per week), Hybrid/remote work possible with in-office meetings at the Washington, DC location as needed

Annual salary range: $46,800 – $56,250 (for 20 hours/ week)

 

 Position Overview 

The Delegation of German Industry and Commerce (DGIC) is seeking a highly qualified Staff Accountant on a part-time basis (20h/week) to lead our financial operations in Washington, DC. This role manages the dual responsibility of maintaining local US financial integrity while ensuring seamless integration with German reporting systems. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • US Bookkeeping & Compliance (Local): 
  • Full-Cycle Accounting: Manage weekly bookings via QuickBooks Online, ensuring all transactions are compliant with US GAAP. 
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare and present Monthly, Quarterly and Year-end financial statements to leadership. 
  • FP&A & Budgeting: Direct monthly forecasting (Budget vs. Actuals) and support the annual budget planning process. 
  • Payroll & Tax Support: Oversee local payroll administration and ensure all US tax filings/compliance requirements are met. 

 

German Integration (Headquarters): 

  • Monthly German Reporting: Execute monthly bookings in the German accounting system (Training will be provided). 
  • Cross-Border Coordination: Align local financial data with German reporting standards for consolidated international records. 
  • International Budgeting: Assist in multi-currency budget planning and tracking. 

 

 

Qualifications 

  • B.A. in accounting or equivalent job experience 
  • Experience: 3–5+ years of accounting experience, preferably with exposure to international entities. 
  • Software: Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks Online and Excel (modeling, forecast and data analysis). 
  • Skills: Strong understanding of internal controls, financial audit preparation, and payroll laws. Must be highly detail-oriented, accurate, and reliable. Strong commitment to deadlines.  
  • Language/Culture: Basic German language skills or experience working with German entities is an advantage but not required.
